Northern Lights Snowshoe Hike

Discover the magic of Northern Lights on our guided snowshoe hike near Kirkenes. Each evening, we choose the best route away from artificial lights and head deep into the quiet, untouched Arctic wilderness. We typically head into the Pasvik Valley. Nearby Øvre Pasvik National Park is Norway’s first certified Dark Sky Park, and the dark skies around it stretch across the wider area. Tours aren’t permitted inside the national park itself, so we take you to dark, remote areas nearby with the same kind of unspoiled night sky. Equipped with snowshoes and poles, we hike through the peaceful winter landscape in search of the perfect spot to watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky. We will share insights about the Aurora borealis, local wildlife, and life in the borderland. Along the way, we stop to enjoy hot drinks and snacks around a crackling campfire.

No prior snowshoe experience is required — the pace is relaxed, and the activity is suitable for beginners. This tour is a great choice if you’d rather be out hiking and active than sitting in a bus or minivan. With small groups (max. 7 guests), this tour ensures a personal and immersive experience.
