Just 20 minutes from Kirkenes, a different world begins. No traffic, no crowds, just peaceful Norwegian nature in the Pasvik Valley. Your tour starts with pick-up in Kirkenes and a short drive toward the valley. From there, we take a boat across a lake for a scenic arrival at Namdalen Wilderness Lodge.
Once at the lodge, we explore the surrounding area on a light scenic hike. Along the way, you will learn more about the borderland between Norway, Finland, and Russia, as well as about wildlife, history, and everyday life in the Arctic.
Back at the lodge, we gather around the campfire to grill reindeer sausages and enjoy hot drinks. Depending on the season, you may pick blueberries, lingonberries and cloud berries around the cabin, make traditional Norwegian waffles, and taste brunost, the famous Norwegian brown cheese. You can also simply relax, read a book, sit by the water, or go for a swim in the lake. The lake right next to the lodge offers excellent fishing conditions, especially for pike. There is no rush. This is about slowing down. Get a real feeling for the relaxed cabin life that Norwegians cherish.
The sauna offers a rustic, authentic Norwegian experience and is heated with wood. Between sauna rounds, you can cool down outside or take a refreshing dip in the lake. Showering takes place inside the sauna, following Norwegian cabin tradition.
From mid-May to late July, the experience can also take place under the midnight sun.
