Arctic Forest Sauna

Relax in a traditional Norwegian wood-fired sauna

Escape the town and unwind in a traditional Norwegian wood-fired sauna at Namdalen Wilderness Lodge. The tour begins with pickup in Kirkenes and a scenic 20-minute drive toward the Pasvik Valley. From there, the journey continues by boat across the lake, approximately 5 to 10 minutes, to reach the lodge, a secluded farm that offers an authentic Norwegian cabin experience. For those who prefer a more active approach, it is also possible to hike to the lodge along quiet forest trails through the Pasvik Valley.

While the sauna heats up, we gather around the campfire to grill reindeer sausages and enjoy hot drinks. We share insights into the local area, wildlife, and everyday life in Northern Norway. The sauna is rustic, wood-fired, and built in the traditional Norwegian style. Between sauna rounds, you can cool down outside, take a dip in the lake, or simply enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings. Showering takes place inside the sauna at the end of the session, as is common in Norwegian sauna traditions.
