Join us for a private ice fishing adventure on one of Northern Europe’s most extraordinary lakes — a border lake where two-thirds of the water lies in Russia and one-third in Norway. Just a 20-minute drive from Kirkenes, the lake sits right in the heart of the geopolitical boundary between two very different worlds, surrounded by birch forest, rolling hills, and the border stations of both countries.
We lead you safely onto the Norwegian side of the frozen lake, drill fresh holes in the ice, and show you everything you need to catch Arctic trout or perch using traditional techniques. There is no rush here. While you wait for a bite, we light a small campfire right on the ice and roast hot dogs and popcorn — a favourite moment for families and groups of all ages. We share warm drinks, talk about the history of the border, current life in Kirkenes, and the Arctic wildlife that calls this region home. After the fishing, we continue to the official border crossing at Storskog for a close-up look at one of Europe’s most unique land borders between Norway and Russia.
Because this is a private tour, we adapt the entire experience to your group, whether you want to focus on fishing, explore the border zone in depth, or simply slow down and enjoy the silence of the Arctic wilderness.
