Your experience starts with pickup in Kirkenes and a scenic 20-minute drive toward the Pasvik Valley. From the starting point, you’ll continue by boat across the lake (approx. 5–10 minutes) to reach Namdalen Wilderness Lodge, a secluded farm offering a true Norwegian cabin experience. As an alternative, we can also hike to the lodge, following quiet trails through the Pasvik forest, if you want a more active approach.
While the sauna heats up, we gather around the campfire to grill reindeer sausages and enjoy hot drinks. We’ll share insights into the local area, wildlife, and everyday life in Northern Norway, offering a genuine glimpse into Arctic living.
The sauna itself is rustic and authentic, heated with wood and designed the traditional Norwegian way. Between sauna rounds, you can cool down outside, jump into the lake or enjoy the calm forest atmosphere. Showering takes place inside the sauna at the end of the session, as is common in Norwegian sauna culture.
From 15 May to 25 July, this experience can be run as a midnight sun sauna, where daylight doesn’t end.
Optional hiking option:
Guests who want to add light activity can hike to the lodge instead of taking the boat. The hike follows forest trails and requires a moderate fitness level. This option is weather- and condition-dependent and arranged in advance.
